Underground utility runs to a generator pad
Backup Power

GENERATOR
GAS & ELECTRIC

Hillside and estate homes lose power in every big storm and fire-season shutoff. We install the underground gas line and electrical conduit to your standby generator — bored under the yard, not trenched through it.

“David had to trench through my backyard paver patio, but he was careful to minimize the damage to the patio and set aside the removed pavers in a neat stack… helped me navigate the process with PG&E.”

“Very tight quarters to do the boring and it was no problem for Dave. Work site was back to its original condition before they left for the day.”

“David was able to start on the job immediately, pivot when we hit a large boulder underground… and dig underneath a retaining wall without damaging it. He has a deep understanding of the PG&E Greenbook.”

Questions
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What utilities does a standby generator need?

A gas line (natural gas or propane) to the generator, and electrical conduit from the generator to the transfer switch and panel. Both are usually run underground from the house to the generator pad.

Can you bore so we don’t trench the yard?

Yes. We bore the gas and electrical runs under lawns, patios and driveways and only dig small pits at each end.

Do you size the gas line?

Gas line size depends on the generator’s load and the run length. We install to the size specified by your generator installer or designer, and coordinate any PG&E meter upgrade.

Do you install the generator?

We handle the underground gas and electrical runs. The generator, transfer switch and wiring are done by your generator dealer or electrician.
