When gravity sewer isn't an option, a force main system gets it done. Apex installs grinder pump stations and pressurized force main lines for residential, ADU, and commercial applications — bored trenchlessly wherever possible.
Understanding when a force main system is the right call for your project.
Gravity sewer requires downhill fall to the main. When your property is at or below sewer grade — or the distance is too great for proper slope — a grinder pump and force main is the solution.
Common scenarios: ADUs with limited grade, basement bathrooms, hillside properties, and sites where the sewer main is uphill from the structure.
Low-Grade & Uphill SitesA grinder pump station grinds sewage into a slurry and pumps it under pressure through a small-diameter force main to the municipal sewer connection or main gravity line.
Force mains are typically 1.25"–2" diameter HDPE — ideal for HDD installation under driveways and hardscape with minimal disruption.
1.25"–2" HDPE Force MainSupply and installation of grinder pump station — excavation, bedding, pump set, and connection to building sewer and force main.
Residential & Commercial1.25"–2" HDPE force main bored under driveways, sidewalks, and hardscape — from pump station to sewer connection point.
1.25"–2" HDPEOpen-cut trenching for force main runs where HDD is not feasible — properly bedded, backfilled, and compacted per spec.
Open Cut OptionConduit bore from electrical panel to grinder pump station — power and control wiring pathway installed trenchlessly.
