Butt fusion and electrofusion — in-house, on-site, and done right. Apex joins HDPE pipe for water, gas, sewer, and conduit applications across all of our HDD and open trench installations.
Two proven methods for creating leak-free, permanent HDPE joints — each suited to different pipe sizes and site conditions.
Butt fusion heats both pipe ends with a facing plate, then presses them together under controlled pressure to form a joint as strong as the pipe itself. No fittings required.
Ideal for larger diameter pipe and long continuous runs. The joint is fully monolithic — there are no gaskets, clamps, or mechanical connections to fail.
Electrofusion uses embedded heating coils in a fitting to melt and fuse the pipe from the inside out. A controller regulates the exact energy input for a precise, repeatable joint.
Preferred for smaller diameter pipe, tight spaces, field repairs, and connections where butt fusion tooling can't fit. Excellent for saddle taps and tee connections.
Potable water service and main line HDPE fusion — butt fusion for longer runs, electrofusion for service taps and tight-access connections.
Potable Water RatedOQ-certified HDPE gas line fusion for PG&E service laterals and distribution pipe — butt and electrofusion per PG&E spec.
OQ Certified – GasPressure-rated HDPE fusion for grinder pump force mains — leak-free joints rated for continuous pressure service.
Pressure RatedHDPE conduit fusion for electrical, fiber, and multi-duct systems installed via HDD — including DR11 and SDR conduit pipe.
Electrical & FiberGolf course and agricultural irrigation mainline fusion — butt fusion for large diameter mains, electrofusion for lateral saddle taps.
Golf & AgriculturalNeed fusion only? We provide standalone HDPE pipe fusion for other contractors' HDD or open trench installations — call for rates.
Sub-Contract AvailableFused HDPE joints are as strong as the pipe itself — no gaskets, clamps, or mechanical fittings to corrode or fail over time.
HDPE flexes without breaking under soil movement and seismic activity — critical in Bay Area soil conditions.
HDPE doesn't rust, corrode, or degrade in aggressive soils or groundwater — ideal for California's varied soil chemistry.
HDPE is the preferred product pipe for HDD because it can be pulled through a bore without damage to pipe or joints.
100+ year design life for fused HDPE pipe systems in water, gas, and sewer applications.
We own our fusion equipment — no subcontractor wait times or mobilization delays for pipe joining on your project.
